Sun, Moon and Rising: your big three explained
Your star sign is only the beginning. Meet the three placements that describe who you are, how you feel and how others see you.
When someone asks your star sign, they mean your Sun sign — where the Sun was when you were born. But your birth chart holds much more, and the three most important placements are known as your big three.
Sun — who you are
Your core identity, vitality and the qualities you're here to grow into.
Moon — how you feel
Your emotional world: what comforts you, what you need to feel safe, and how you react when life gets hard. The Moon moves quickly, so two people with the same Sun sign can feel very different inside.
Rising (Ascendant) — how you meet the world
The sign rising on the eastern horizon at your birth. It shapes first impressions and your outward style. It changes every couple of hours, which is why an accurate birth time matters.
